For the july colorchallenge by Kim B, at DSO!
Have you seen? DSO has a whole new site online!
You should go check it out, it's really awesome!
But poor Bunny has been working SO hard! If you haven't heard already, I'll tell you: Her WHOLE SITE went POOF! Can you imagine!?! Arggggh!
And I felt sorry for myself that I lost the working file to my kit last month....
Now in this new kit I've used some CU stuff that was made -for free!- AT MY REQUEST! I feel so honored!
It's Satin Ribbon and Bow by Jeanie, aka Scrapdoctor. She asked if anyone had any request, and althoug I was on her blog for the first time, downloading some lovely CU freebies, I asked for some plain ribbons with seperate bow. And she made them! Looks good huh?Now I have a request for you. As Jeanie had some major surgery and she's now recovering. Would you go over to her blog, and wish her a good recovery?
While you're there, you should check out her daughter's blog! She's 8, very talented, and makes freebies for you!
And here's the colorswatch Kim has made for july.

Everybody at DSO was telling her how much they love the colors.
Eh.. Uhm.. Now to tell you, honestly, I did not like it. Loved the red, but... ;)
(sorry Kim, please don't stop reading!)
BUT!
Again, she's proven to be a great teacher, because I've learned! YAY!
As the kit SHE made with it, I LOVED.
Huh? So I needed to take a good look why.
First the problem: I don't really like those grey-brown-muddy colors. ;) Yeah, most of the swatch that is. lol.
Then, a close look at her kit: She used lots of the lightest color, and a lot of the red. The rest looked to me more like accents.
And the darkest and lightest colors aren't so muddy if not combined with too much of the other two.
So, I needed to see it not as equal parts, but some a lot, and some a little less, and some an itty bitty.
Presto! Now it gets really beautiful!
Well, I think so... ;)
THEN I had to think about a theme or a style to make. I figured something 'oldfashioned' or 'vintage' would suite those colors best for me. But that's a problem too, as I have not USED vintage, let alone MADE it. LOL
Oh well, I tried, I even like it, and I hope you like it too.
Thank you Kim, I've learned SO much!!
Here's the preview:

Oh well, you know, right?
Don't directlink,

Beautiful new kit!!! Thank you again for sharing your time and talents with us. I will have to get to work now!!:)
Thanks for the gorgeous kit! I especially like the "Love" charm and the swirly brads.
That kit turned out really lovely. I also at first looked at that color swatch and thought 'ughh not really my colors', but I love the combination of red and cream, so that's where I started as well. I love the vintage look, although I have not used it so far (that does not mean I have not avidly collected it *giggle*). I especially love the red and cream colored paper and the frames. Cannot wait to have a closer look. Thanks again for sharing.
hee hee, Dinphy as you know green and yellow I seem to have a block with- lol.
I started with the red and the cream and then decided to add ONE colour hue with it-
I'm so glad you learnt from it and let me tell you
YOU ACED IT!! BIG TIME!
This kit is super duper amazing!
LOVE how you used the red and cream and added the others as accents! That's how it works!- LOL
LOVE LOVE LOVE it and sending you a * BADGE* for this!
GREAT JOB!
HUGS
Hi Dinphy! I just gave you an award today, it's on my blog :)
What a great kit! I'm sitting this color challenge out as far as designing goes. I love the colors, but I also am drawing a blank on a design idea. (plus our July schedule is packed, so I don't have a lot of scrapbook time this month!) Your kit, I have some layout ideas for though, and I'm going to try to get one done for the challenge! :)
Thanks!!!
Thanx for sharing a beautiful kit! Can't wait to use it..

I LOVE these colors! I found it very interesting how you went about making a kit out of colors you didn't care much for and what you learned by doing so. :) It's a wonderful kit, Dinphy and thank you for sharing it with us!
